THE INITIATIVE, PROMOTED BY LINDA LIU QIONG YING, OWNER OF THE AIMINER LEATHER PRODUCTS CO. LTD.,
AIMS AT MANAGERIAL, TECHNICAL, COMMERCIAL AND QUALITY UPGRADING OF SHOE MANUFACTURERS IN THE
FLOURISHING SICHUAN DISTRICT IN THE SOUTHWEST OF CHINA
■ The foundation ceremony of
the Sichuan Chamber of
Commerce for Footwear
Import and Export (SCCFIE)
took place at the International
Exhibition Centre of Chengdu.
The event, held on 26 May,
saw the presence of over 100
prestigious guests including
Mr Huang Xiaoxiang, Deputy
Governor of the Sichuan
province and the president of
CIQ of Chengdu city, together
with other functionaries from
Germany, the United Kingdom,
France, Italy, the USA, Spain
and Kazakistan. Up to now
some 32 footwear firms from
the Sichuan province have
become part of the new
Chamber of Commerce. These
members include Aiminer
Leather Products Co. Ltd.,
Sichuan Provincial Silk Import
& Export Company, Deyang
Taihua Shoe Company,
Neijiang Ju-An Co. Ltd.,
Chengdu Ziwu Industry Co.
Ltd. and Robor Co. Ltd.
The aims and objectives are
many for the SCCFIE,
registered with the Office of
Civil Administration of Sichuan
in January 2005. In fact, the
creation of the Chamber of
Commerce is intended to
further exchange of resources
and information on the market
between trade members in the
Sichuan province so as to
enhance the managerial,
technical and financial
systems of member firms.
Furthermore, it should help the
European brands to market in
Sichuan and even in China
and, above all, encourage
collaboration among members
to upgrade local production
from the quality point of view.
This was the subject of a
speech made at the
foundation ceremony by Su
Chao Ying, Secretary-General
of the China Leather Industry
Association. On his opinion it
is necessary to raise the
technical level of production:
the result should be products
of which only their intrinsic
value speaks for them and no
longer the price. The
Secretary-General then went
on to stress the importance of
continually monitoring international
evolution in prices
and the question of
environmental impact of
production, as well as
workers’ rights.
During the ceremony Linda Liu
Qiong Ying, a clever businesswoman
and owner of Aiminer
Leather Products Co. Ltd. -
one of the Chinese firms best
known on foreign markets - as
president and promoter of the
initiative demonstrated to the
audience the plaque which
marks the official foundation
of the SCCFIE.
